How is digital marketing fairing in Australia? Are we leader of the pack or falling behind other countries?

Well, it’s pretty good news…

Econsultancy’s ‘State of Digital Marketing in Australia’ report interviewed almost 500 Australian digital marketers and search engine marketing services suppliers late last year and it has revealed some interesting results.

Here are the key take away’s from the report:

  • 80% of Australian marketers claim digital will account for up to half of their budget this year
  • 68% plan to increase their digital marketing budget in 2013, compared to only 9% who plan to increase traditional marketing budgets
  • 77% of respondents will use SEO services in their digital marketing strategy
  • During the next 12 months, digital marketing budgets are expected to increase by 20%.
  • 93% of respondents expect their digital marketing activity to be more measurable during 2013
  • A 67% boost in spending is expected for off-site social media such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Video advertising is expected to make a splash in 2013 with 56% of marketers planning to up spend in 2013
  • Only 28% of respondents highlighted a lack of understanding or education on digital marketing as an issue (seems we really are digital marketing experts!)

With unprecedented levels of spending on consumer research, and digital technology advancements, one thing is certain; all Australian digital marketers are in a race to keep up to speed in this ever-expanding industry.
