We’re excited to announce North Metropolitan TAFE student Mitchell Do as the inaugural winner of Bonfire’s Kindling Project, an initiative for young WA creatives to receive industry recognition.

For his efforts, Do received a $1,000 cash prize and the opportunity to work with Zendoke designer Jarrod Fuller to create the cover of Campaign Brief WA’s 2020 Awards Magazine issue.

The winning concept, “Celebrating bright minds” is a nod towards the awards evening, which commends the achievements of the marketing and advertising industry’s brightest minds.

To bring Do’s concept to life, he worked with Fuller to transform the right part of the brain into a circuit board with data pulses and a Gloss UV varnish finish.

North Metropolitan TAFE student Ruicong Tian took out second place for her concept “Jigsaw Puzzle” and received a cash prize of $500.

Metropolitan TAFE’s Marketing Lecturer Jennifer Than-Htay said the Kindling Project competition gives upcoming professionals a taste of the industry.

“Not only does it give them valuable insights and opportunities, it also encourages others to see what is possible,” said Than-Htay.

Rene LeMerle, Bonfire’s Head of Marketing said the judges were astonished by the large volume of high calibre entries.

“The amount of young talent out there is inspiring. We received some very well-thought-out and creative concepts that made it difficult to decide on a winner.

Mitchell’s concept best reflected the Bonfire brand and we are very pleased to announce him as this year’s winner,” said LeMerle.

The special awards issue of Campaign Brief WA magazine is out now.
