Logo extensions

Logos should match the advertised business and be consistent for the given domain name.

  • Aspect ratio: square (1:1)
  • Image dimensions: 1200 x 1200 pixels (recommended); 128 x 128 pixels (minimum)
  • File formats: PNG, JPG
  • Maximum file size: 5120 KB
  • Compatibility: the logo should work on both light and dark backgrounds
  • Image safe area: Google may crop or round logos, so keep important content centred with margins of at least 20% of the width and height

Image extensions

  • Image dimensions: 1200 x 1200 pixels (recommended); landscape 1200 x 628 pixels
  • File formats: PNG, JPG, static GIF
  • Maximum file size: 5120 KB

Guidelines:

  • Images cannot contain text.
  • Images should avoid using excessive blank space.
  • Images should not be collages or combine multiple images.

Images

Performance Max ads require the following specifications:

  • Landscape: 1200 x 628 pixels (minimum 600 x 314 pixels)
  • Square: 1200 x 1200 pixels (minimum 300 x 300 pixels)
  • Portrait: 960 x 1200 pixels (minimum 480 x 600 pixels)
  • File formats: PNG or JPG
  • Maximum file size: 5120 KB

Logos

  • Landscape logo: 1200 x 300 pixels (minimum 512 x 128 pixels)
  • Square logo: 1200 x 1200 pixels (minimum 300 x 300 pixels)
  • File formats: PNG or JPG
  • Maximum file size: 5120 KB
  • Maximum number of files: 5 logos per dimension type

Videos

  • Resolution: 1080p (Full HD)
  • Horizontal: 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Vertical: 1080 x 1920 pixels (at least one vertical video between 10 and 60 seconds is required for YouTube Shorts eligibility)
  • Square: 1080 x 1080 pixels
  • Video length: 10 seconds or more
  • File formats: MPEG-2 or MPEG-4
  • Maximum file size: 256 GB
  • Maximum number of files: up to five videos

If you don’t supply a video file, Google will automatically create videos from the supplied images and text. Videos need to be uploaded to YouTube first.

Display banners (static, HTML5 and GIF)

  • Medium rectangle: 300 x 250 pixels
  • Large rectangle: 336 x 280 pixels
  • Leaderboard: 728 x 90 pixels
  • Half page (large skyscraper): 300 x 600 pixels
  • Large mobile banner: 320 x 100 pixels
  • Maximum file size: 150 KB

Animation:

  • Must be 30 seconds or shorter
  • Files are limited to 72 dpi at 150 KB or less
  • Animated GIFs must be slower than 5 frames per second

Quantity: up to five of each dimension.

Skippable, non-skippable and bumper ads

YouTube video ads need to be uploaded as public videos to YouTube before they can be used for advertising. They can be unlisted, but they must be publicly accessible.

  • Aspect ratio: 16:9
  • Dimensions: 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Bumper ads: 6 seconds
  • Skippable ads: 15 to 30 seconds
  • Non-skippable ads: 15 seconds

In-stream and out-stream video

YouTube

  • File format: AVI, ASF, QuickTime, Windows Media, MP4 or MPEG
  • Video codec: H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4
  • Audio codec: MP3 or AAC
  • Resolution: 640 x 360 pixels or 480 x 360 pixels (recommended)
  • Skippable ads: 12 seconds (minimum) to 6 minutes (maximum)
  • Non-skippable ads: 15 seconds
  • Bumper ads: 6 seconds
  • Frame rate: 30 frames per second
  • Maximum file size: 1 GB

Social video

  • File format: MP4 or MOV
  • Video dimensions: 1080 x 1920 pixels or 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Maximum file size: 10 MB
  • Video length: 1 second (minimum) to 2 minutes (maximum); 6 seconds or 15 seconds recommended

Digital out-of-home ads require the following specifications:

  • File format: JPG, MOV or MP4
  • Maximum file size: 10 MB
  • Colour space: RGB and CMYK
  • 1080 x 1920 pixels (most common)
  • 1920 x 1080 pixels (most common)
  • 3480 x 1080 pixels
  • 2160 x 3480 pixels
  • Video length: between 7 and 15 seconds

Other sizes depend on the exact placement. Your Account Manager will tell you if they need one of those other sizes.

Audio ads

  • File format: MP3, WAV or M4A
  • Maximum file size: 1 MB
  • Audio length: 15 seconds or 30 seconds
  • Audio volume: RMS normalised to −14 dBFS, peak normalised to −0.2 dBFS
  • Bitrate: 160 kbps

Companion banners (optional)

  • Image dimensions: 300 x 250 pixels or 640 x 640 pixels
  • Image format: JPG or PNG
  • Maximum image size: 200 KB
