The instinct when a location-named business relocates is to rebrand and rebuild. A search presence earned over years, however, is a portable asset.
The Work
Treating the practice’s search presence as an asset to carry, not scrap, shaped everything that followed. Rather than rebrand to match the new suburb, City Beach Vets kept the name its clients already knew, and the work turned to re-pointing years of search equity toward Doubleview.
That started with the practice’s local signals. We updated the Google Business Profile, directory citations and Bing listings, and the site’s local business schema, so Google would re-anchor an established, trusted business to its new address. Alongside it, an annual keyword expansion and fresh keyword mapping went after the catchment City Beach Vets now needed to win — “vet scarborough”, “doubleview vet”, “vet churchlands” — backed by service-page content and structured FAQs written around how people actually search for a vet.
A pet owner ready to book shouldn’t have to wrestle the site to do it, so the path from click to appointment got its own scrutiny: a site-wide banner announcing the new location, a conversion rate optimisation audit to surface friction, and a fix to an appointment widget that had been failing on Samsung phones.
The Results
A year on from the move, City Beach Vets was ranking across its new Doubleview catchment and turning more of that traffic into booked appointments than the year before.
- 49.5% increase in organic conversions year-on-year — the bookings, calls and enquiries that carried the practice through its relocation
- 235.8x estimated return on investment, based on an assumed average sale value and customer lifetime value
- 90.7% of all conversions came from organic search
- 17.8% increase in organic sessions year-on-year, even as Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode (both rolled out through 2025) pushed more searches to zero-click
- Keyword rankings in Google’s top three grew from 13 to 19, including first-page positions for “doubleview vet” and “vet scarborough”
- 3,258 calls placed directly from the Google Business Profile
The Partnership
City Beach Vets is one of Bonfire’s longest-standing clients. When a one-shot moment like a relocation arrives, there’s little time to bring a new partner up to speed or gamble on untested advice. Years of working together meant we knew the City Beach Vets brand inside-out and could confidently recommend maintaining the original name during the relocation.
The Next Chapter
The next chapter is AI search. Heading into 2026, the work targets the signals AI Search rewards: EEAT built into the content, an AI Overviews audit, and richer schema to keep City Beach Vets visible as search keeps shifting.
Moving out of the suburb we're named after was a real risk. We could have lost the people who knew us. Bonfire's advice to keep our name and rebuild our local presence around it paid off. A year on, new clients are finding us in Doubleview under the name we've always had.
